Private Retreats
You may wish to make a “private” retreat in which you create your own schedule for reflection, reading, prayer, journaling, walking, rest, or whatever will be spiritually refreshing and reviving to you. You may join the Sisters for meals and conversation or you might decide to make a silent retreat. You choose the length of time for your retreat whether just for a day, for several days, or for a week.
Directed Retreats
Another type of retreat you may choose is the directed retreat. In this type of retreat you meet daily with a spiritual director who will suggest Scripture passages for prayerful reflection. This will aid your listening and responding to God’s call to growth and holiness. The directed retreat can last a weekend or up to eight days. Directed retreats should be scheduled at least six weeks in advance with the Sister who will direct the retreat.
Group Day Retreats
We welcome groups or organizations, men and/or women (20 – 25 participants) who want to arrange special retreats, workshops, or days of reflection. Groups with pre-planned programs are also welcome to use our facilities. Please call or email for information. Our new wing has been completed and groups can schedule overnight retreats.
Vocation Retreats
For women discerning a call to religious life, we offer a series of vocation retreats throughout the year – see Vocation section of our website.
Sabbatical Experiences
We welcome Sisters–either Benedictine or other orders–who wish to spend time with us for leisure, prayer, and relaxation. Sisters who wish to come for some “timeout” can pursue their own program of interest while living in Community with us. Sister guests are invited to join us for special events or cultural experiences scheduled during their stay.
Laypersons
Is your life so busy and moving so quickly that you feel frazzled or overwhelmed or in need of some time out? Give yourself the gift of relaxation and undisturbed peace with a retreat at Holy Name Monastery. Your time here will give you the opportunity to reflect on where your life is going, to spend time in private prayer, and to be renewed in spirit and body. While you are here you may join the Benedictine Sisters for Eucharist (Mass) and Liturgy of the Hours, and you will be supported by our prayers.
