Aquaponics Upgrade 2017
The vision to have an Aquaponics facility and training at Holy Name has brought imagination into action. Producing healthy organic food for the community three years ago has put vegetables, fish, and fruit on our table. We have lowered kitchen costs and obtained income through the training of others. It is now time to move our food production program from a small operation to one that can deliver a giant impact.
We thank our supporters for being a part of something bigger than themselves! We have had missionaries, church leaders and others from all parts of the globe visit and want to bring this method of farming to their homes, villages and towns. Local residents also want to purchase our lush, organic produce and fresh fish. Upgrading our current system will open the door to revenue sources for our Community while meeting the needs of those who want to ensure healthy living.
Generous donors have given to make this project come to life. The project goal of $41,171 has been reached! What a group of awesome philanthropists! The work is progressing with an extension installed and a concrete floor instead of plastic to control flooding. The larger fish tanks have been delivered and the filtration system and technology are ready to install. The entire system update will ensure that the proper water temperature, fish food dispensing and filtration is efficient and worry free. All the upgrades will make for much less labor, a better training system, and the ability to sell healthy food locally!
